We get this question often, and my guess is that all the other vendors working with the happy couples hear this question even more often. Well let me tell you a little story…
An Affair to Remember was coordinating a wedding last Saturday at Orlando’s Wyndham Resort. This beautiful hotel is very spread out. It has many different buildings spread over the property. To cut to the chase, right as the reception was kicking off with intros and first dance and toasts… wait, the toasts! Our maid of honor had forgotten her toast that she needed to read in 5min… all the way across the property. Our very helpful intern, Jaclyn ran to the rescue (in over 90 degree Florida summer heat) across the convention center, across the grand lawn and across the pool to get this toast.
Everything went off without a hitch. The toast was beautiful, the maid of honor cried tears of joy and no one knew that was almost a minor disaster.
The fantastic, fabulous, hard working Director of Sales looked at us and said, “This is why I tell them to hire a wedding coordinator. Because I would not have been able to go get that”.
So there you have it, the wonderful people who are working at your venue have a million and one things to be taking care of.
Coordinators are here to take care of the happy couple. Period.
The photos speak for themselves, these venues are built for the wedding you assumed you could only imagine. Three are here in Florida where yours truly resides. Please click on photos for more information and credits!
The New York Public Library has been the dream venue of Sex and the City fans for about a year now. I can see why but Carrie was not the first, or last, to dream this Big. A sophisticated, romantic, grand wedding.

Miami’s Vizcaya Museum and Gardens has a variety of areas for an ecclectic, airy and relaxed wedding.
The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens sets the scene for an asian inspired event. Or possibly a rehearsal dinner? Gorgeous grounds in South Florida of all places!
Who knew Dover, FL (right outside Tampa) had this to offer? Unique, fun and casual. I imagine an endless BBQ buffet and a southern band getting the crowd dancing. The Cross Creek Ranch is an ideal family venue.
And we’ll finish this up with the grand finale. New Orleans is a hands-down-favorite city of mine and The Oak Alley Plantation is the venue where my own wedding dreams occur… The classicbride recently reminded me of its beauty with this post.
I live in Orlando but a girl can dream right…

Verona, Italy
This is an old city, almost a mini-Rome one might say. The streets are dusty and filled with history. We took a quick visit to an ancient castle, (Romeo and) Juliet’s “balcony”, an arena resembling the Colosseum which is used for Opera today and the very green Guisti Gardens.
Cinque Terre
My Italian isn’t so hot great good but Cinque Terre roughly translates to ‘five villages’. The five small staggered villages make up this town and has become quite the destination for Italy-lovers (aren’t we all?) thanks to Rick Steves.
I would go as far to say that this my favorite spot from this vacation. The colors you find are endless; the buildings, waters, boats and flowers you walk by on your way to the train inspire you for many many (weddings) events to come. Which is why I’m going to post up two color palettes straight from the Italian coast.
Based on the hydrangea bush, with blooms larger than my head, that I passed daily, I’m feeling a wedding (on a cliff’s edge) with purples, light blues and delicately placed accents would be whimsical.

Zermatt, Switzerland
This car-less village sits right at the foot of the famous Matterhorn mountain in the heart of Switzerland. This town is made for outdoor lovers and sporty types. Hiking, skiing, snowboarding and fondue top your list of to-dos here. A woodsy-feeling wedding with yellows & touches of green comes to mind…
