Cinque Terre
My Italian isn’t so hot great good but Cinque Terre roughly translates to ‘five villages’. The five small staggered villages make up this town and has become quite the destination for Italy-lovers (aren’t we all?) thanks to Rick Steves.
I would go as far to say that this my favorite spot from this vacation. The colors you find are endless; the buildings, waters, boats and flowers you walk by on your way to the train inspire you for many many (weddings) events to come. Which is why I’m going to post up two color palettes straight from the Italian coast.
Based on the hydrangea bush, with blooms larger than my head, that I passed daily, I’m feeling a wedding (on a cliff’s edge) with purples, light blues and delicately placed accents would be whimsical.
Thanks to Martha Stewart Online & Anne Watkins Watercolors.
Euro Chic.
I’m fresh off my summer European getaway. Ok, fresh may be an overstatement since during that trip I rode over eight trains through six cities in eleven days but the inspiring mood throughout the countries is still fresh in my mind. You all know about the more obvious inspirations of charming English gardens & shining Paris lights but I want to get down to detail, down to some of the underrated destinations of Europe.
So let’s get to it. I’ll be posting inspiration from each city I was so lucky to see!
Lausanne, Switzerland. A charming town sitting on rolling hills that literally tumble into the enormous blue lake below. Sail boats and swans cover the lake on sunny days. Sitting on the border, this small Swiss town has French flair to spare. Bright blues & whites with a lakeside feel is all a summer wedding needs. J.Crew created this bridesmaids dress and Martha Stewart created this French wedding cake.
